Before you list your home with a Realtor, you need to make sure your home is ready to sell.
Removing Clutter
Keep the bathrooms and bedrooms clean and spotless. You should scrub the necessary areas and make your home presentable. Your clothes and shoes should be stored in a closet with doors to avoid the appearance of clutter.
Avoid extra furniture in any area of your home. Remove any piece of furniture that is not needed. Mass furniture makes rooms look smaller.
Fixing Up the House
You should hire a carpet cleaner to clean your carpet. If your carpet is old, you may replace it with inexpensive, neutral color carpet.
It is necessary to clean all the fixtures. Cleaning the ceilings, ceiling fans, and perhaps painting your home inside and outside may attract many viewers who are seriously looking to buy their dream home.
Make sure there are no cracked or broken windows. If there are, replace them before you start showing your home. You may also check all the doors, closet doors and cabinet drawers. Make sure that they open and close properly. Replace any broken doorknobs.
If you are a smoker, do not smoke inside your home. Spray your home with ozone spray to remove odors. You may also spray freshener on the carpet periodically to invite more buyers to your home.
Landscaping
If there are problems with your lawn, you should probably take care of them before showing your home. You should cut your lawn evenly, and water it as required. You may want to buy a few bushes and flowers and plant them to attract buyers to your home.
If you have a pool or spa, keep it clean. Remove any swing sets or any kids belongings to show your home to be more spacious and clean.
